The BDS continues to play an important role in representing the interests and needs of carriage drivers.
Northern Ireland has a long tradition and interest in carriage driving; the significant growth in the membership of the branch has continued (now over 200 members) and with this there has been an expansion in the numbers of activities

Mr. Eugene Larkin – chairman – presented trophies to the competitors who gained the highest Points at selected Driving Shows in Northern Ireland during the Showing Year 2011.
The winners were Thomas Magill (Newcastle),'In Hand Classes’ ‘Sunburst Boy’: Exercise Vehicles – John Weir (Ballyclare) ‘Milltown Boy’: Gigs under 13.2hands Wallace Shaw (Castlewellan) ‘Clarvalley Prince’: Gigs over 13.2 Alex Presho (Brookeborough) driving Norman Brown’s ‘Rosehall Tara Maiden’: Trade Vehicles John Weir (Ballyclare) ‘Milltown Boy’: Country Turnouts Liam Rooney (Dromara) ‘Fronarth Jupiter’; Junior Whip John Weir jnr., (Ballyclare) ‘Milltown Boy’
Kathryn Wilson (Kilwaughter,Larne) was presented with the Brian Sims BDS Young Driver Scholarship August 2011 assessed in England.

BDS Organized road drives are excellent social occasions without the formality of shows, they are useful to introduce young horses to working in company and as part of training and fitness programs. please check events page for further details.......
