The First BDS BANBRIDGE SHOW took place on Saturday 23 rd August 2008 commencing at 10.00 a.m. in The Old Rifle Park, Newry Road, Banbridge (by kind permission of Mr Cowan). The sun shone early in the day but the weather turned somewhat wet in the afternoon.
The Judges selected from the British Driving Society Panel of Judges were Mrs .J. Boucher and Mr Clive Scott, (England) who have never Judged in Northern Ireland said they truly enjoyed their first visit. The Concours D’Elegance and Show Drive through Banbridge was efficiently policed by PSNI Banbridge and Judged by Councillor N Beare (Chairman of Banbridge District Council).
The Show Director was Mr John Powell, (Lambeg), Mr Stephen Wilson – Chief Steward was assisted by Mr R.J. Mc Connell, Mr D Horner, Mr. P. King, Mr J Crumlin, Mr M Ward, and Ms Liz Kelly (Area Commissioner). The N.I.Branch – British Driving Society Chairman is Mr Eugene Larkin and Margaret Carlisle Hon Secretary. The Treasurer is David Wilson. Mrs Lesley Horner acted as Hospitality Hostess.
The Catering Van was in the safe hands of Mr Joe Moore, (Banbridge) and his Staff.
The main Funder of the Show was Banbridge District Council and the Sponsors were George Fawcett, Sawmills, Saintfield, Jollyes Pet Food Suppliers, Banbridge, Murdoch Equine.Co.Uk, Geoffrey Walker, Blacksmith, Ballyward, Stewarts Solicitors, Newtownards, Johnston’s Saddlery, Banbridge, Castle Horse Boxes, Newry, P.Turley and Sons, Ballyward and Stanley Stewart, Dromore.
Marquee was supplied and erected by The Lions Club, Ballynahinch.
The British Red Cross were in attendance.
Tyrone Crystal was presented to the Champions and Reserve Champions.
